Is there any point in trying to solve the climate change problem or we might as well give up?

Physically yes still (probably), according to mainstream climate scientists such as Jim Hansen. However they say the window is closing rapidly. It's impossible to know for certain, so they give ranges like the next 10-30 years.
The bigger question is: "Will humanity actually carry out the required self-organisation to rein in emissions and then draw down excess atmospheric greenhouse gases in time to avoid an irreversible step-change". That of course is up to us.
